4 Way Street is the third album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, their second as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and their first live album

Renews automatically. Sample this album Artist (Sample). What a brilliant song and I love that echoed Harmonica as it crescendos before fading out. The album ends of the Stills/Young rocker "Everybody I Love You" – guitars wailing as they "la la" those harmony vocals. We should talk about what’s not here.

Four Way Street is a concert tour recording divided between Chicago, the Fillmore West in San Francisco and the Forum in Los Angeles, all hallowed rock and roll ground. The crowds sounded large, excited, and appreciative. Four Way Street is quite the schizophrenic affair, half being acoustic and half electric. The sum of all its parts is protest. I can forgive Dave Marsh his opinion, but a really bad live album would be Tom Petty's Pack Up The Plantation (or Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Live (A&M, 1976-regardless of how popular it was. Listen to Frampton play lead guitar on Humble Pie: Performance Rocking the Fillmore (A&M, 1971) and then praise the pantywaist blather of Comes Alive). But not Four Way Street, no.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. 4 Way Street Tracklist. 1. Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (Live) Lyrics. 2. On the Way Home (Live) Lyrics.

Nash and Young had about as much business recording live concerts as did the Monkees. But 4 Way Street is a surprisingly good album. To begin with, CSN&Y all sing and play in the same key on almost every single cut. One of the principal failures of their previous live work was that they attempted to duplicate those tight, three-part harmonies which required numerous takes and overdubs in the studio, but this double album is for the most part a showcase of solo material by each of the four.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young had come out of Woodstock as the hottest new music act on the planet, and followed it up with Deja Vu, recorded across the second half of 1969 and released in March of 1970, supported by a tour in the summer of that year. Expanded by almost 40 minutes, the double-CD version of 4 Way Street simply built on the existing foundation of a landmark live album, and for a change, there was no diminishing of the original release. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young had come out of Woodstock as the hottest new music act on the planet, and followed it up with Deja Vu, recorded across the second half of 1969 and released in March of 1970, supported by a tour in the summer of that year.

4 Way Street was a huge hit, topping the album charts and earning an even bigger audience for the band. But it was also the beginning of the end, at least for a while. By the time the tour was over, the foursome had had enough of each other, splitting to pursue various solo and duo projects. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young didn’t perform together again until 1974, and it wasn’t until 1977 that another studio album (minus Young) was released
