The Sisters of Mercy are an English rock band, formed in 1980 in Leeds. After achieving early underground fame there, the band had their commercial breakthrough in the mid-1980s and sustained it until the early 1990s, when they stopped releasing new recorded output in protest against their record company WEA. Currently, the band are a touring outfit only. The group has released three original studio albums, the last of which was released in 1990.

1987 saw the return of The Sisters with the second album, 'Floodland'. It marked a shift away from guitars-based rock towards keyboard-oriented explorations as pioneered in Gift. The album was produced by Eldritch and Larry Alexander, with contributions from Jim Steinman on two songs. Bass player, Patricia Morrison subsequently became a member of the band for the release of the album, although it is claimed by Eldritch she didn't contribute to the album whatsoever. She was effectively a poster girl for the band

The Quality of Mercy is the sixth studio album by English rock band Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, released in 2005. Fronted by Steve Harley, the album was the first studio album in 29 years to be released by Harley under the band's name. The existing Cockney Rebel line-up of the time featured all new musicians compared to the best-known Cockney Rebel line-ups of their 1970s heyday. The album was produced entirely by Harley, with Jim Cregan also co-producing the track "A Friend for Life". First and Last and Alw. he Sisters of Mercy. Some Girls Wander By M. ee Full Discography. The one constant in the band's career has been deep-voiced singer Andrew Eldritch. The band is named after the Leonard Cohen song "Sisters of Mercy" according to Eldritch. The band originally formed in 1980 with guitarist Gary Marx and ist Eldritch.

The clues to The Sisters of Mercy's imminent implosion were already in place: Ben Gunn's departure in 1983 after the band's first US tour, with the guitarist claiming that the band had become the very thing that they'd set out to parody; news of singer Andrew Eldritch's hospitalisation after one too many nights on the mirror and rumours. of the band barely talking to each other during the recording of their debut album  . Though Eldritch was dismissive of David Allen's production of the album, the producer's touch gives the record a panoramic quality that had missing from their earlier releases. The sound is richer and fuller and the interaction between the guitars is fully in evidence.
