Produced by Margaret Chardiet. Album Bestial Burden. Bestial Burden Lyrics. A thing without reflection It sees itself only in shadow It does not recognize its blankness It can not recognize its darkness. And I look for my shadow With a lamp in the daylight And I'm looking for my shadow And I realize I don't belong here I don't belong here I, I don't belong here I don't belong here. Chardiet’s album Bestial Burden was inspired by this traumatic experience. Bestial Burden" Track Info. Written By Margaret Chardiet. Release Date October 1, 2014. Bestial Burden Pharmakon.

Still, chaos reigns on Bestial Burden, an album that sounds like anything but a safe space to inhabit. Chardiet’s steadier focus on rhythm provides a sound structure nonetheless annihilated by jet-engine roars, bursts of mechanical heat, and ear-bleeding screeches. Fittingly, her voice is the album's most expressive instrument, at times recalling black metal’s pitchless burn. While her vocal approach on Abandon came across as sprawling and freeform in its presentation, Chardiet takes the shape of a menacing furnace on Bestial Burden, giving off blasts of heat and steam that are deeply felt even as they recede into the darkness.

Bestial Burden Four days before New York noise musician Margaret Chardiet was supposed leave for her first European tour as Pharmakon, she had a medical emergency which resulted in a major surgery. Suddenly, instead of getting on a plane, she was bedridden for three weeks, missing an organ.

For her third release, Bestial Burden, Chardiet stated that the main inspiration for the album was her abrupt surgery, explaining that her experiences made her feel a disconnect with her physical body and her mind. Or so it would have seemed. In preparation for a tour in support of that album, Chardiet was suddenly hospitalized due to a large cyst that collapsed one of her organs.

Pharmakon - Bestial Burden Margaret Chardiet's first album, the pulverizing Abandon, could be loosely described as power, heavy music that wielded distorted frequencies like blunt weapons. Bestial Burden, on the other hand, has a bodily focus and an earthier sound. Chardiet's second album as Pharmakon was inspired by the experience of having an organ removed, and explores the idea of the body turning against itself. The results are more personal and abrasive than anything she's done before. With two songs that feature violent coughing and vomiting, Chardiet.
