After Motown dropped Benzino when his debut album flopped - also partly because of his shady affiliation with The Source - they assigned the album's masters to Surrender Records, who then re-released the album as The Benzino Remix Project. The idea was to repackage the album and try to give it a second life. The Antidote is the fourth solo album by Boston, Massachusetts rapper Benzino, released August 21, 2007 on 7th Floor Music. Benzino (born Raymond Scott in 1964) is a rapper and former CEO and co-owner of The Source, a popular hip hop magazine in the United States. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Benzino met The Source founder Dave Mays while attending Harvard University. From 1988 to 2001, Benzino was a silent partner in the growth of the business. However, in 2001, Benzino acknowledged his involvement in the publication.
