The 5th Ward Boyz, the gangsta poets of Houston, hope to find their way out. The trio's fourth album . It’s who you know and how you do it and when to do it, being in the right place at the right time. You gotta make noise; you gotta kick up dust and do whatever it takes to get all eyes on you. The main thing, Lo Life said recently, is getting people to think of them beyond their namesake, the Fifth Ward, one of the nation’s most violent neighborhoods. We want people to know the 5th Ward Boyz are worldwide, Lo Life said. We just don’t want to be considered that the 5th Ward Boyz represent only the 5th Ward. We get out all over the world. We have fans in Japan and Germany.

5th Ward Boyz is an American southern hip hop trio, based out of Houston, Texas. Their name is derived from Houston's Fifth Ward The group originally consisted of Andre "007" Barnes and Eric "E-Rock" Taylor, with Richard "Lo Life" Nash joining the group following his release from prison for their second album, Gangsta Funk. They have been influenced by Dr. Dre, Funkadelic, . A, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, Compton's Most Wanted. He is known for his unique rapping style and his 2002 songs "Lacville '79" and "Doobie Ashtray". Ghetto Dope is the debut album by the 5th Ward Boyz, released on May 18, 1993 through Rap-a-Lot Records. The album featured production from Mike Dean, . Joe, James Smith and John Bido. Ghetto Dope peaked at number 176 on the Billboard 200, 19 on the R&B charts and 26 on the Heatseekers chart. The album also produced two singles "Thanks for the Blessing" and "Same Ol'", but neither made it to the Billboard charts. Intro"- :58. "Ho Shit"- 3:11. Studio Gangster"- 4:06 (featuring Geto Boys).

5th Ward Boyz are underground legends in Houston and the south. They were not signed to Rap-A-Lot for nathan. They hold it down and keep it gutter throughout. This 1995 album is straight up gangsta rap from E-Rock, 007, and Lo-Life. For the most part, the beats are hella funky, but at the end there are a few crazy, horror beats. Overall, Rated G is a good album. I would say to newcommers of 5th Ward Boyz to not expect a lot from the lyrics (especially when artists such as Geto Boys, UGK, 4 Deep were much better), but look for the standout production. The album is great for fans of Rap-A-Lot fans, or if you're looking for something to cruise to at night. I recommend that you give this a listen before you purchase.
