Chester Charles Bennington (March 20, 1976 – July 20, 2017) was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. He was also lead vocalist for the bands Dead by Sunrise, Grey Daze, and Stone Temple Pilots. He also appeared in cameo roles in several films, including Crank, Crank: High Voltage and Saw 3D. Bennington is widely regarded as one of the top rock musicians of the 2000s.
Ken Clinger has been played on NTS in shows including Diet Clinic, featured first on 31 January 2016. Songs played include The Edge Of Silence and Wiring. Established in San Francisco Ken moved to Pittsburgh in the late 1980's. He remains a prolific, quirky and entertaining part of the home recording scene.
Chester awoke later that night, to the sound of rain on the window by his bed. As he pulled up the covers to fall back asleep, he thought he heard something sounding like a voice speaking in rhyme, from inside the rain. Chester Bovine, Come look, get out of that bed. Chester Bovine, I know you heard what I said. Chester Bovine, Come fly away with me. Chester Bovine, But leave your body be. Chester Bovine, Just listen to my voice. Chester Bovine, You won’t regret the choice.
Established in San Francisco Ken moved to Pittsburgh in the late 1980's.
Ken Burns Jazz is the accompaniment to a film - the story as Burns tells it. In Burns' 10-part telling, the first nine episodes run through 1961, with the last summarizing the music since. This decision is a clear point of controversy, especially for those whose ears are more attuned to recordings of the '60s and beyond. Burns firmly contends that he is a historian, that he's telling a story of the inspiration behind the development of jazz. Those taking Burns' project overall as a manifesto - that jazz stopped decades ago - are overreacting or misinterpreting
In conjunction with documentary filmmaker Ken Burns' ten-part 2000 PBS special, Columbia/Legacy and Verve teamed up to issue a special series of reissues covering much of the history of 20th century jazz. The central release of this program is the five-CD box set Ken Burns Jazz: The Story of America's Music, its 94 selections covering the history of 20th century jazz, from 1917 to the mid-'90s. Chronologically, the set is very skewed toward the first 50 years of that time span; there is only just under a CD's worth of music dating from after the mid-'60s.
