Before the Next Teardrop Falls" is an American country and pop song written by Vivian Keith and Ben Peters, and most famously recorded by Freddy Fender. The song was written in 1967 and had been recorded more than two dozen times. The song had achieved modest success in versions by various performers; the original version by Duane Dee reached on the Billboard country chart in early 1968, and Linda Martell sent her version to in early 1970

On the back of the album, it says Freddy's real name is Baldemar Huerta. This album is soooo great. The title track is the best, I just love it. Reply Notify me Helpful.

If he brings you happiness Then I wish you all the best It's your happiness that matters most of all But if he ever breaks your heart If the teardrops ever start I'll be there before the next teardrop falls. Si te quiere de verdad Y te da felicidad Te deseo lo mas bueno pa'los dos Pero si te hace llorar A mi me puedes hablar Y estare contigo cuando triste estas. I'll be there anytime You need me by your side To drive away every teardrop that you cried

The quiver in Freddy Fender's voice could make even the most hardened rancher cry in his cab. On "Before the Next Teardrop Falls," the Texas country singer works up the strength to forgive an ex-lover; then, in "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights," he regrets all the hours he spent thinking about her in the first place. Though at times he sounds like he’s on the brink of tears, his spirits rise on funk and tejano jams that fill out the rest of this LP. Before the Next Teardrop Falls Freddy Fender.

The group's success was not just limited to the album's big hit. Even better tracks are here, such as Fender's own hilarious song "I Love My Rancho Grande," a few covers of great country songs such as "Wild Side of Life," and the obligatory Fender "fool" song (this time it's "I'm Not a Fool Anymore"). And to no surprise, he pulls off an effective version of the weepy "Roses Are Red" to kick things off. Maybe best of all is the fantastic honky tonk song "You Can't Get There From Here
