The Wall Tour was a concert tour by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd throughout 1980–1981 in support of their concept album The Wall. The tour was relatively small compared to previous tours for a major release, with only 31 shows in total. The tour was notable for its extensive use of stage theatrics, most notably a giant wall constructed across the stage to convey the sense of alienation present in both the album, and Roger Waters' personal feelings at the time.

Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London. Created in 1965, they have been acclaimed worldwide for their innovative psychedelic music.

The Early Years tells the remarkable story of Pink Floyd’s career up through the moment they became part of yesterday’s underground and today’s mainstream, stopping just before the writing and recording of 1973’s Dark Side of the Moon. Charting the band’s progression from the wig-flipping baroque psychedelia of Syd Barrett ’s songwriting through their wooliest jams and into the new space beyond, The Early Years doesn’t follow a straight path.

The first Pink Floyd album not to feature founder and bassist Roger Waters, A Momentary Lapse of Reason represented a definite transition to a new phase in the band’s long history. It came in the midst of a tumultuous period of lawsuits and name-calling between Waters and his former band mates, led by vocalist and guitarist David Gilmour. There is no doubt that part of the Pink Floydization of the album was to nod back to previous song names, themes, and structures. This is evident in the song titles A New Machine (a song Welcome To the Machine appeared on 1975’s Wish You Were Here and Dogs of War, which is a quasi-sequel to the Roger Waters Animals track Dogs.
