Sample this album Artist (Sample). Saw her when she was touring for this album. She played the whole album with just a drummer, harmonica, electric guitar, and a small amp miced to the PA. The songs work just as well on the album - bluesy riffs with emotional guitar playing.

Stompin' Ground, Michelle Malone's first solo album for longtime friend/associate Amy Ray's Daemon imprint, continues her trend of tough rockers mixed with melodic but no less aggressive ballads. She gets Dylan-ish on "2 Horns and 2 Wings," a burner heavily influenced by Bob's "Maggie's Farm," right down to her ragged harmonica. Although most of the songs involve matters of the heart, Malone leans left with some political jabs on the surging "Flagpole," one of her most explosive tracks and a highlight of this disc

Moanin'" is a composition by Bobby Timmons, first recorded by Art Blakey's band on the 1958 album of the same title. Moanin'" has a call and response melody. It is played in F minor.

Mingus is the tenth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, and a collaboration with composer and jazz musician Charles Mingus. Recorded in the months before his death, it would be Mingus's final musical project; the album is wholly dedicated to him. Mingus was released on June 13, 1979. The album is quite experimental, featuring minimalist jazz, over-plucked, buzzing acoustic guitars, and even wolves howling through "The Wolf That Lives in Lindsey".

Michelle Malone (born Atlanta, Georgia) is an American rock and blues singer-songwriter and guitarist. As well as albums in her own name, she has released albums as Michelle Malone and Drag the River and with Band de Soleil. Armed with a bottleneck slide, blues harmonica, and her signature gut-wrenching vocals, Moanin’ Michelle Malone ( a nickname given to her by Albert King after hearing her sing), is having so much fun these days that she can’t help but shake her Sugarfoot! Malone was born in the dirty south and grew up listening to her mother sing in the church choir every Sunday. Sugarfoot sounds like the lost recordings of Bonnie Raitt and the Rolling Stones meeting up in Susan Tedeschi's garage for a late night jam session. And as is usually the case with Malone, the disc is an experience best enjoyed at high volume.
