Genre: Neo-Psychedelia. American oducer Lionel Williams (. Vynil Williams) is back with his third full lenght LP, Brunei. As on his previous works, the artist dives deep into his own fantastic world of sounds, colours and textures, delivering this amazingly fun and catchy experience that draws influences from the egyptian culture, with all this beautiful and hazy imagery working as a vivid background for his music.

Vinyl Williams is an American neo-psychedelic band led by Los Angeles-based multimedia artist and musician Lionel Williams, active since 2007. Vinyl Williams has released four studio albums: Lemniscate (2012), Into (2015), Brunei (2016) and Opal (2018)

On his new album, LA-based visual artist and musician Lionel "Vinyl" Williams goes deep. It's his 3rd overall, and 2nd to be released on Company Records, the label run by Chaz Bundick (Toro Y Moi/Les Sins), who also cameos here. Elements of psychedelia, chillwave and even Krautrock inform the celestial sounds. But underneath lies a spiritual connection to back-in-the-day astral travelers like Lonnie Liston Smith and Pharoah Sanders. Eastern influences also play their part, both religiously (note the lyrics) and musically (note the quarter tones on his vocals)

Limited vinyl LP pressing. Vinyl Williams' Brunei expresses an otherworldly vision of the land of the same name. As a child, Lionel Williams (. Vinyl Williams) was fascinated by the appearance of the Brunei dollar. The translucent, rainbow, and prismatic piece of currency looks the way Lionel's music sounds. This piece of polymer sparked a curiosity in Lionel, which inspired the development of a mysterious civilization centered around pure harmony  . Lyrically, the album is written mainly from the perspective of an incorporeal being from Xol, the gravity cluster orbiting the star Alnilam (the center of the Orion constellation), which represents purely harmonious patterns.
