Fairport Convention is Fairport Convention's debut album. The band formed in 1967, with the original line-up consisting of Richard Thompson (guitar); Simon Nicol (guitar); Ashley Tyger Hutchings (bass); and Sean Frater (drums), who was replaced after their first gig by Martin Lamble

Only for completionists (8%). Glady's Leap was the first Fairport Convention album in seven years and it started a new chapter in the band's long history. Even if I think that the previous two albums, Tippler's Tales and Bonny Bunch Of Roses, were both good, I would say that the band had lost its way as far back as in 1973 with the weak and disappointing Rosie album. In the light of that the present album constituted not only a return to the scene, but a return to form.

Though their annual reunion concerts meant that they never really went away, Fairport Convention (now down to a trio of guitarist/vocalist Simon Nicol, bassist Dave Pegg, and returning drummer Dave Mattacks) officially reconvened in 1985 for this, their first proper studio album in seven years.
