Apollo 18 is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock duo They Might Be Giants. It was released in 1992 through Elektra Records and was named after the cancelled Apollo 18 mission that was scheduled to have followed Apollo 17. The album was also associated with International Space Year, for which They Might Be Giants were declared the official "musical ambassadors" by NASA.

Apollo proudly presents a full release of the stunning debut album released by SW. SW's lush sound design and hypnotic arrangements nestles snugly alongside the classic 90’s Apollo releases of Biosphere and Robert Leiner in all their balmy glory. Originally issued on vinyl only via SW’s own SUED imprint, this Apollo re-release represents something of a coup in that it’s the first of the label’s music to ever be presented digitally

Now the Sons of Apollo album, entitled ‘Psychotic Symphony’ has arrived, produced by Portnoy and Sherinian (also affectionately known as The Del Fuvio Brothers. It is time to discard the hype and analyze the musical product of this exciting line-up of virtuosos. An eleven-minute Prog-metal epic named God of the Sun opens the album. It starts with a middle-eastern theme, then moves immediately into a Prog-metal movement that surrenders to Soto’s classic vocal style, and proceeds to make a clear Prog proclamation that you’d better be ready for anything.

Sons of Apollo Albums: Psychotic Symphony Members: Jeff Scott Soto, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Billy Sheehan, Mike Portnoy, Derek Sherinian.

Apollo biography Apollo was formed in 1969 by three ex-Topmost members (Harri Saksala, Eero Lupari, Heimo Holopainen) and one Edward Vesala. Topmost was a very popular group in Finland in the late 60's, so when Apollo was formed, they were considered somewhat of a "supergroup". The album was reasonably succesful in Finland, but soon after releasing the album, Apollo was already gone. Edward Vesala went on to become one of the most respected Finnish jazz musicians, and Harri Saksala later appeared as the lead vocalist on KALEVALA's excellent debut album "People No Names".
